Global music superstar Calvin Harris has revealed all about his bus tour with the Liverpool squad, describing it as “the most unreal experience of my life”.
An estimated 500,000 Reds fans turned out to welcome their side home less than 24 hours after the loss to Real Madrid in the Champions League final, with Harris in charge.
Members of the FA Cup and League Cup winning squad admitted to nervousness during the tour due to their defeat the day before, but those fears were quickly dashed by overwhelming crowds.
Scottish DJ Harris was invited as a friend of fellow countryman Andy Robertson, but as a Liverpool fan he already had an affinity with the supporters.
Harris’ No.1 hit ‘One Kiss’, which he premiered with fellow Reds fan Dua Lipa in 2018, became an anthem for the club, but he was almost unable to perform it in front of the crowd .
“It was the most unreal experience I can think of in my entire life”, he told Capital UK.
“Obviously I’m a Liverpool fan but that [One Kiss] didn’t become a football anthem, it became a Liverpool anthem. And so this event was bizarre in itself.
“I kind of had a chat with Andy Robertson and he said, ‘If there’s anything you can do, we’re doing this sort of floating thing, maybe you could DJ at Anfield or on the bus. ?

“And I was like, ‘Dude, get me on that bus.’ It was a four-hour DJ set to start with, so we had a four-hour drive through the streets of Liverpool.
“It started out very residential, and I had two hours in my set and the sound guy ran from the bottom of the bus and he said, ‘We’re running out of power, we’ve got 10% battery left. ‘.
“Andy Robertson is behind me freaking out, ‘What do you mean, we have to get to the docks where it’s all going crazy!’
“I didn’t know what to do, he was like, ‘You can turn it down for now,’ so I turned it down right away and [Roberto] Firmino is at the other end of the bus, pointing to the speakers like, “There’s no sound.”
“There was a lorry behind us that was throwing fireworks every now and then, so they managed to run a power line from that lorry to the bus with seconds before they turned around the corner on the main street where everyone world is going crazy.
“The [sound guy] runs up and goes, ‘We have the power!’ And I turned it up to 11, bearing in mind that it’s supposed to be for boys only on the bus, but I pushed it and you could hear it from miles away.
“Just in time, I stay on ‘Freed From Desire’, the flares go off, the bus pulls away – it was probably the best gig of my life.”
