County seeks Orcas resident for housing committee

Are you a passionate and knowledgeable Orcas resident about affordable housing in San Juan County? San Juan County is seeking a new member for the Housing Advisory Committee to fill the Orcas Island position on the committee.

The Committee is the County Council’s main advisory body on affordable housing issues. He oversees several county programs that impact affordable housing, including the Home Fund, the Equity Loan Program which provides down payment loans to low-income first-time homebuyers, document registration fees, rent subsidies for qualified seniors with very low incomes, etc. The HAC also advises the County Council on policy issues regarding housing for low, middle and middle income citizens in our community.

HAC members are expected to participate in monthly public meetings, in person or by conference call. The members of the HAC are volunteers appointed by the Departmental Council. Currently there is a vacant position for a member of Orcas Island.
